When I click on a paper to review it, I get sent back to the login page with a message saying that I have timed out or entered incorrect login information.
- This can happen if you have set your browser to block all cookies. On some browsers, the problem is compounded because the page is served as a frame within a page. Thus, enable cookies (at least from sites to which you navigate) and see if that works. If that doesn't work, go directly to the frame webpage that enables you to referee the paper: https://webapps2.ucalgary.ca/~nfa99/openconf/openconf.php. You might also have to restart your browser.
- If you want to reject cookies for potentially bad sites, allow cookies from the site https://webapps2.ucalgary.ca/~nfa99/openconf/openconf.php on your browser. Restart your browser and see if that clears the problem.
- In Windows Internet Explorer, go to Tools >> Internet Options and adjust your security settings to enable the cookies as above. If you are using a Mac, go to Preferences for your browser and adjust from there (although this problem doesn't usually happen on the Mac unless you have really aggressive settings to reject cookies).
I keep getting sent back to the login page after I enter data or a password.
- Try refreshing your the login webpage before you login. This might clear an old cookie.
- Try going directly to the webpage at https://webapps2.ucalgary.ca/~nfa99/openconf/openconf.php
- Try using another browser or computer. This seems to work for many people, but it might just be doing the same as the items above.
- Don't assume that pressing the Return or Enter key on a form will submit your form. There may be several selections on the page, so pressing Return or Enter just re-enters the URL of the page at the top. That sends you back to the address at the top of the page, which is the login page. To solve this problem, enter your data and press the appropriate button or link associated with the data entry on the form that you are filling out.
- If you enter an incorrect account or password, you can recover your password following instructions below. When you go back to re-enter your correct account and password, try refreshing your browser before entering it.
- Some people have soved the problem by switching computers or browsers. You might want to try Firefox, which is free, at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/
- If this solves your problem, please let us know. If it doesn't please email us details about your setup. In particular, what operating system and browser do you use?
I forgot my login ID or password.
If you can remember the email address you gave when you submitted your paper or registered as a referee, the Login page gives you a chance to have your login information emailed to that address.
How can I get a PDF copy of my paper?
There is a variety of places on the Internet where you can convert a document to a PDF document for free. Consider Adobe's own site.
Is my password secure?
Our server only keeps an encrypted version of your password. Thus, we can't give you that password. But, you can change your password and login again as above.
The page does not have the secure tag https://, but the login information is secure, because it is contained in a secure frame within the page you see. We used the frame because the paper management is done on a different server and we wanted to keep the references from the northernfinance.org server only.
Naturally, you would be foolish to use a really crucial password, such as one for banking, on a site for which you may be unsure of the security. So, consider using on of your lower-security passwords for this site.
